Cambridge community provider signs up to Speak Out Safely

Cambridge Community Services NHS Trust has become the first community provider from the East of England to back our Speak Out Safely campaign.

It is the fourth community trust to pledge its support to the campaign and the first outside of the Midlands.

Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Trust, Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Trust, Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Partnership NHS Trust are the other three.

In a public pledge, Cambridge Community Services said in a statement: “Your concerns will be dealt with in an open and supportive manner because we rely on you to ensure we deliver a safe service and ensure patient safety is not put at risk.

“We also want this organisation to have the confidence to admit to mistakes and to use them as learning opportunities.”

The Speak Out Safely campaign launched earlier this year by Nursing Times aims to make it easier for staff to raise legitimate concerns about patient safety.

One of our key aims is for all trusts to pledge their support for the campaign and add specific protection for staff raising concerns to whistleblowing policies.
