Nurses in Wales learn on the job

A pilot scheme to help nurses learn as they work has been launched in Wales.

The REACH Programme has been rolled out at Carmarthenshire NHS Trust with a view to becoming a Wales-wide initiative next year.

Based around experiences in the workplace, the scheme allows nurses to map personal achievements, reflect on their skills and produce a portfolio of learning that can be submitted for accreditation up to master's degree level.

The initiative was initially pioneered by the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust in order to help nurses improve their potential.
