Nurse to fight on over reference dispute despite new nursing job

A newly qualified nurse who had a job offer rescinded because of a bad reference has finally managed to find a nursing job.

Catherine Rusconi (pictured), who qualified in March, was denied work at Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen because of a poor reference from a former tutor (NT News, 9 October, p2).

She has now secured a newly qualified bank post at Bro Morgannwg NHS Trust in Mid Glamorgan.

'I feel really happy, I am just ecstatic,' she told NT.

Ms Rusconi said that having been unable to find work as a nurse she was forced to take cleaning jobs to cope with the financial pressures.

However, she said she would continue her fight to find out what had been said about her in the document.
