- NT has revamped and added features to the careers section of its website. These include tips on making career decisions and creating job opportunities, and insights into the working lives of colleagues.
- The University of Derby has opened a new £400,000 learning centre for health education. Courses that are on offer include an MSc in Advanced Practice and a range of community specialist programmes.
- Nurses can explore the government's cancer reform strategy at an NT conference on 11 December in London. The plan, to be unveiled later this year, aims to make UK cancer services among Europe's best.

- Nurses can learn how to use health coaching to help patients lose weight at a workshop event on 22–23 November in Surrey. Run by sports medicine expert Dr Tim Anstiss, the event is targeted at primary care staff. Email shl@btinternet.com.
- A conference on new roles and ways of working for mental health nurses will take place next February in London. The NT event, Transforming Values Into Action, looks at consequences of recent major developments such as the chief nursing officer's review of mental health nursing and the Mental Health Act.
