Diabetes centre open for Manchester patients

A new diabetes centre at North Manchester General Hospital was officially opened by junior health minister Ivan Lewis this week.

The centre has opened as part of a £1m investment programme by Pennine Acute Trust, which runs the hospital, and replaces the old diabetes and endocrinology centre that could no longer meet the needs of the expanding service.

Mr Lewis said: 'I am delighted to open this new state-of-the-art centre which will provide invaluable care for people with diabetes in the Manchester area. The centre will provide a wide range of services and excellent care for the local community'.

The new centre will provide good quality consulting and office space, a clinical room for housing the diabetes foot clinics and vascular clinic, a bespoke facility for the eye clinic and a pleasant reception area.
