Royal College of Nursing members have re-elected Maura Buchanan as their president and Bobbie Chadwick as deputy president.
Maura Buchanan received 51% of the vote in the presidential election while Bobbie Chadwick retained her position unopposed.
The president and deputy president positions are both high-profile and demanding, and involve representing the organisation and its members, raising the RCN's profile and lobbying on college policy.
On winning the election, Maura said: 'I feel deeply honoured to have been re-elected as RCN president and very much look forward to serving the membership for another two years, seeing at first hand the fantastic work of our members caring for patients across the UK.'
Both Maura and Bobbie have an impressive and extensive history in nursing. Maura holds postgraduate diplomas in clinical neurosciences and health law and has worked in several hospitals in Glasgow and London.
Bobbie worked for 18 years as a night sister before becoming a sister in gynaecology-oncology until 1996 when she took on a permanent role as an RCN representative.
