  • Comment on: Student nurse blog: A sad farewell, but I will be back

As a student midwife I spent 3 yrs wondering how I would cope if I had to leave the course or repeat, everytime I sat an exam or submitted an essay I became acutely aware of how important the profession was to me and how easily it could be lost. I would wonder what I would do, would pride make me walk away, what would I say to my family & friend who'd supported me? What would I say when I returned to a non clinical workplace? Healthcare degree's certainly keep us on our toes. In my final semester I failed my OSCE and I was heartbroken. Thankfully I passed the 2nd attempt, but for a while my confidence was in my boots. However, resitting and all the additional study that went with it (I believe) made me a better practitioner by the end of my course. Please don't let this set back knock your confidence, come back next year with gusto. Good luck in the future - you will be a nurse and a damn good one at that!
