I am a christian and in my 20th year of nursing. I have often prayed for patients, colleagues, management, just about anything. Shall I offer my resignation?

I would like to think there is more to this story than the short article. What has nursing come too? Hospitals can do alot to improve cleanliness and the spread of disease, but I don't believe there will ever be such a thing as an aseptic hospital. A basic understanding of the nature of bacteria and viruses will help you understand that they are the most sucessful lifeform on Earth. Control them maybe, irradicate no. Blaming nurses for hospital aquired infections is not helping the problem. We all have a collective responsibility for the NHS, pointing fingers won't solve this.

Not sure if you were there with us "intoxicated nurses" last night. We really appreciated the PM's appearance and what seemed a genuine dedication to our profession. He didn't compare Nelson Mandela’s time in prison to Amy Winehouse's husband's, he was quoting her light-heartedly. I do agree the reference to the Haringey tragedy was political after what happened in PMQ's yesterday, but was not offended. You obviously have a strong opinion about his speech, just not strong enough to give your name.

We had a wonderful evening, and quite a late one! As nurses we dont normaly seek recognition, but when you do receive it, particularly from the Nursing Times, having been "bigged up" by the PM, it means all the more. Thanks for a truly memorable evening. See you next year.........................?
