It's not often someone in my gentle line of work has to shed blood for the job. But last week I found myself on the receiving end of not only a needle, but a 12-lead ECG, venepuncture and CPR to boot. Thankfully, I was replaced by a mannequin for the latter's more intimate moments.

It was all filmed, and all in the name of providing professional online training videos for nurses, which launch October. I have made it clear that my acting services will not be available should we cover catheterisation.
