I am a Buteyko practitioner. In 1999, I did the Buteyko training with Alexander Stalmatski, Dr Buteyko's associate who brought his breathing technique to the west. In 2000, I did the practitioner training in New Zealand with Jennifer Stark, one of the foremost Buteyko Trainers. I became a trainer myself in 2007 with the international organization, Buteyko Institute of Breathing and Health. I am based in Canada.

Comment on: Nurses to be trained to teach Buteyko Breathing Technique to asthmatics
As a Buteyko practitioner and trainer, I am deeply concerned that this program for nurses being developed is lacking. A very important component is using Buteyko for one's own health and improved breathing. After this, trainees observe and teach 30 - 50 patients under the trainer's supervision before they are considered safely trained. I urge you to re-visit the curriculum. T
