Nurses and other NHS staff are to be given easier access to the British National Formulary via their computer desktop.
The BNF and the BNF for Children have been made available for nurses seeking to access clinical information via the NHS Medical Research Service.
The service, which is available to all NHS staff, consists of three main tools – the Deskbar Search and Research Pane, which can be used directly within MS Office, and the Sharepoint Feature, which allows web-based access to the service.
It forms part of a joint programme of projects between NHS Connecting for Health and Microsoft.
BNF Publishing Director Dominic Vaughan said: 'We welcome this innovative project which provides this information on the desktop for NHS staff and ensures a key information resource is available to prescribers wherever they might need it.'
