A new pilot project launched to improve care for patients with Parkinson's disease.
A new information pack has been issued at Colchester Hospital University NHS Trust as part of a pilot project to improve care for patients with Parkinson's.
The packs were created in conjunction with the Colchester branch of the Parkinson's Disease Society (PDS) and have been distributed to all nurses on the five care of the elderly wards.
The hospital and PDS have been meeting since January this year and the packs are the result of their efforts to improve care for both inpatients and outpatients with the disease.
Sarah Kench, Parkinson's disease nurse specialist at the trust, said: 'Nationally, there is a need to improve care for Parkinson's patients as they have problems with medication when they come into hospital.
The information packs provide a detailed reference tool all about the condition and medication. I will be measuring experience before and after the pilot project to see what impact this work has on staff and patients,' she said.
