Nocturia is a risk factors for falls related fractures, according to Japanese researchers. A three-year prospective cohort study presented at the International Continence Society conference included 429 women and 359 men with a mean age of 75 years.

Researchers found an increasing risk of falls-related fractures with two or more episodes of nocturia. Nocturia also increased mortality but this was not an independent risk factor.
