The government's medicines watchdog has asked nurses and clinicians to check enteral feeding pumps that may be faulty.
There is a risk that ClearStar model M771, manufactured by Abbott Nutrition may under-diffuse due to cracking or breaking of an internal adapter bracket.
Abbott has identified 298 pumps that are affected but has been unable to locate 38 of them.
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency has listed the serial numbers of affected pumps on its website. Abbott has said it will exchange any of the faulty pumps for new ones.
