What is going on here?
I can speak many, many comments for patients who are asking who/what are you now. What our peers/ line managers/ managers/ managers etc etc need to understand is the fact that patients are very concerned about who we are and what we do, expecially when it is not explained to them what is happening with regard to who is delivering the care for them.
I agree with HCA/AP registration, but only as a part of having sufficient registered staff to ensure patient care remains and improves. I dont accept that patient safety is not in question if registered nurses, especially those with years of experience, are not allowed to practice at a senior level teaching others. Its only the Trusts who want to erode. I dont think the formula of high band 3 and newly banded 4's coupled with newly qualified nurses actually gives a mix that gives patient satisfaction or indeed will audit well in 3 years, let alone 5 years time.
Nursing still is valued by patients, but how can we do our jod correctly if we confuse them with titles and jargon?
