Im starting a diploma course at the end of the month. I have begun to look over some nursing calculations(prob not a good idea) and am completely freaked out! Maths is not my strong point! Is anyone else in the same boat as me, im having vissions of being kicked off my course!!
in my third year of mental health nursing degree, the calculations on my course were basic, there is a great book which has examples to work through. Why dont you check amazon, they will have a list of reasonable books, or try this link http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dosage-Calculations-Made-Incredibly-Easy/http://www.elsevier.com/wps/find/bookdescription.cws_home/715232/description#descriptiondp/0874349044 if you search the net you will probably find a free nursing calculations package to practise on..
yeah dont worry i am rubbish at maths and am in my 3rd year and i managed to get 100% in the drug calcs first time round, just practice and find a formula that works for you and you will do fine, promise!
Key is dont worry. everyone works differently and sees problems differently. There is usually more than one way to do a calculation or manipulate the numbers. If you cant do it one way try another. There are formulas for most calculations and these work for me, but they dont necessarily work best for everyone. Good luck and as one poster said get a good nursing calculation book and work way through.
Hey, no need to worry about your maths status. I am also weak in maths but I am practicing a lot for making it my best subject. While drug calculation you need more practice and find other ways to solve. I think you can get rid of these problems only keep practicing.
