Comment on: Primary care blog: What we can do to prevent another Baby P
Thank-You Lynn for getting to the heart of the matter. I am constatntly dismayed at the lack of training health professionals seem to get at many levels. I work in elderly care, where concerns over budgets often seem to result in little or training for care workers & lack of professional devolpment & support for qualified staff. Organisations seem to want a paper trail which will protect them & not the clients it is caring for. Staff do need training, support & have some autonomy for decision making whivch they then take responsiblity for.

Comment on: RCN to consult on anti-strike rule
The ability to withdraw ones labour in defence of poor conditions of employment has a long history in the UK. The right of nurses to strike is one of the few ways that seems available in order for the profession to be "listened too". Of course running an esential service requires that there be great thought into how the practicalities of strke action effect one's patients and colleagues. We should remember that poor conditions for nursing & medical staff inevitably leads to poor services for patients & clients and we have a duty of care to do what we can to maintain & improve both!
