A well-respected mental health nurse has started work as the new director of nursing at South London and Maudsley Foundation Trust.
Dr Neil Brimblecombe was appointed in October and took up post this week.
He joined from South Staffordshire and Shropshire Healthcare Foundation Trust where he was director of nursing and chief operating officer for three years. He has been head of mental health nursing Hertfordshire Partnership Trust.
Dr Brimblecombe has also previously held national roles as director of mental health nursing at the Department of Health, from 2003-08, and as deputy director of the National Institute for Mental Health in England.
Trust chair Madeliene Long said: “I am delighted that Dr Neil Brimblecombe will be joining us. I know that he will be an asset to SLaM in supporting the delivery of high quality patient care and contributing to the on-going development of King’s Health Partners.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Dr Jane Sayer for the work she has done to provide interim nursing leadership at SLaM,” she added.
Chief executive Dr Matthew Patrick said: “Bringing someone of Neil’s calibre to the organisation is terrific news for us and for nursing.”
