Largest private hospital in South West appoints senior nurse
Kate Hoffman has been appointed as matron and head of clinical services at the Spire The Glen Hospital Bristol, in a move intended to support the expansion of services.
The hospital, based in Clifton on Durham Down, employs over 450 staff. Ms Hoffman will be responsible for providing leadership in all clinical areas at Spire Bristol, including its inpatient ward, day care wards, outpatient department, diagnostics and imaging and physiotherapy.
She replaces Louise Daniel, who has moved into the role of nurse specialist for clinical quality.
Ms Hoffman, an intensive care specialist, started her career at St Thomas’ Hospital and was previously deputy matron at Spire Bristol for five years, before taking up a position as matron elsewhere.
She is also a member of the National Safeguarding Team and has an instructor role with the UK Resuscitation Council.
She said: “This new appointment is fantastic news for me. Spire is the largest private hospital in the area, so my responsibilities will be very varied and I’m looking forward to the challenge.
“I’m passionate about nursing having specialised in clinical care for many years,” she added.
Rob Anderson, director of Spire Bristol, said: “I’m delighted to announce Kate’s appointment in this key role for the hospital.
“Her experience speaks for itself and we’re strengthening the management team to ensure we continue to deliver the best possible quality of care to our patients.”
