New nursing director appointed by Salisbury FT

Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust has appointed Lorna Wilkinson as its new director of nursing.

Ms Wilkinson was formerly the acute trust’s deputy director of nursing from 2009 until she moved to Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust in 2012, where she became deputy director of nursing and head of patient safety.

The appointment was noted in the trust’s board papers for June.

It stated: “Lorna started her nursing career in London and has extensive nursing and managerial experience having moved into clinical audit and clinical governance at St Mary’s NHS Trust in London, and here in Salisbury where she was our head of risk management before taking up the deputy director of nursing role.”

The board papers added that Ms Wilkinson would take up her new position in August.

Until then, the trust’s deputy nursing director, Fiona Hyett, is filling the role of interim director of nursing.
