Nursing organisation appoints first non-US president
The Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International has appointed South African nurse academic Hester Klopper as its new president – the first non-US nurse to hold the post.
Founded in 1922 at the University of Indiana, the organisation has more than 135,000 members in more than 90 countries.
It said Dr Klopper’s appointment marked an “important step” in its plans to become more globally relevant.
She is the chief executive Officer of the Forum for University Nursing Deans in South Africa and was previously the dean of the community and health
