SMC approves raft of new drugs for NHS

The Scottish Medicines Consortium has approved four drugs for use in NHSScotland.
These are pemetrexed (Alimta) for monotherapy for the second-line treatment of patients with locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer, alemtuzumab (MabCampath) for treatment of patients with B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukaemia, rituximab (MabThera) for the treatment of previously untreated patients with stage III to IV follicular lymphoma in combination with chemotherapy, and micafungin (Mycamine) in the treatment of invasive candidiasis in adults, elderly, and children.
