DH announces NHS rebranding exercise

Primary Care Trusts are to rebranded simply as 'NHS' in a bid to encourage people to use their services.

This means that, for example, Lambeth PCT will be renamed as 'Lambeth NHS'.

The Department of Health said that the move would help the patients and public to 'recognise the full range of NHS services.'

A Department of Health spokesperson said: 'As well as seeking to strengthen recognition of services provided by the NHS, we also want to reinforce the central role that Primary Care Trusts have in providing services for the local community by giving them the freedom to re-name as NHS Local.

'The guidance is clear that changing branding to the new identity should not happen overnight, but incrementally for instance as new supplies of stationery are needed and property signage is updated.'

Yet another example of the phenomenal waste of money occuring within the NHS on a daily basis. And this on the day that NICE has rejected spending on drugs to prolong the live of renal cancer patients as they aren't cost effective! Why not forget this ludicrous rebranding exercise and buy some of these drugs instead. What is the point of the rebranding anyway; everyone knows that PCT's are part of the NHS and need no encouragement to use the service.

this again is another example of the NHS wasting money. with one minor change to name it is unbelievable the amount of other costs that are implicated in this. At the front line is where te money should be sent patient care.
