Ivan Lewis has lost his position within the Department of Health under the Prime Minister's cabinet reshuffle.
Mr Lewis, who was responsible for the government's dementia care strategy and its drive on dignity as junior minister for care services, is to be replaced by Corby and East Northants MP Phil Hope.
After 15 months with the DH, Mr Lewis will now become junior International Development minister.
A DH spokesperson confirmed Mr Hope will succeed Mr Lewis, and that a statement regarding Mr Hope's portfolio of responsibility would be issued imminently.
