Public have good awareness of MRSA

The majority of the general public have good knowledge about how MRSA is transmitted according to a survey published in the British Journal of Infection Control.
The study included 345 members of the public and 176 visitors, of which 24 had some personal experience of MRSA.
The respondents acknowledged that they obtained their information about MRSA mainly from television and newspapers. If they wanted to know more about the infection, 54% of the public and 77% of visitors said that they would ask their doctor or nurse.
However 80% of those who had experience of MRSA said that they would look at the internet for information and only 53% would ask a health professionals.
Over half of the participants blamed doctors and nurses for MRSA infections.
