A new national dementia plan for Wales is to be drawn up by a panel of health professionals and other experts, the Welsh Assembly Government has announced.
The group will be chaired by Ian Thomas, director of the Alzheimer's Society in Wales and will produce a draft plan for consultation by April next year.
It will also draw on ideas from Dr Charles Twining's dementia scoping review and ideas put forward by the Alzheimer's Society relating to information prescriptions.
These also include advice information and support in order to help patients understand their condition.
Wales health minister Edwina Hart said: '[The plan] will provide us with the opportunity to address current dementia services and look at how we can effectively deal with the projected growth in the number of people suffering with dementia over the next 20 years.'
