The Continence Foundation's annual campaign to publicise the professional help and treatments available for bladder and bowel problems attracted record support this year. More than 1,550 health professionals requested the foundation's campaign pack, which contained a supply of its new Bladder or Bowel Problems? leaflet for the public. Many local publicity initiatives occurred during the awareness week. The Continence Service in Salisbury ran an information stall in the city-centre market. Liz Collings-Wells, continence services manager, said: 'The stall was a way of taking continence services to the public. We received enquiries from people who were talking about their own problems, relatives' problems and also questions from nurses.' The Whipps Cross University Hospital Continence Service arranged an open day in an empty hospital shop and the Dorchester Continence Service distributed the foundation's literature to 46 local GPs' surgeries. The foundation said that by the end of the awareness week it had sent out more than 55,000 copies of its new leaflet. Details of the theme for next year's campaign will be announced shortly.
