Nurses fighting Aids in Africa

Nurses and trade unionists from Africa visited the UK last week to draw up plans to fight the Aids epidemic on the continent.

Unison organised the event as part of a campaign to help HIV/Aids workers in Africa.

Doreen Choruma (pictured), of the Zimbabwe Nurses Association, was part of the delegation: ‘The shortage of nurses makes it difficult to fight HIV/Aids, indeed to provide an efficient healthcare service at all.

‘As more nurses leave we also find that the workload increases for those that remain,’ she told NT.
