Learning and development guidelines and standards specifically for maternity support workers have been published by the Royal College of Midwives.
The RCM has developed the guidelines because of concerns about differing levels, duration, appropriateness and quality of current MSW training across England.
The Maternity Support Workers Training and Development Guide and Standards aim to help those involved in MSW training ensure that it is appropriate for the work MSWs do, to help standardise MSW training, and to ensure that the training is of high quality.
