A chlamydia testing kit is to be sent to thousands of homes in the West Midlands, it has been announced.
People aged 18-24 living in Wolverhampton will receive one of 25,000 testing kits to be posted by Wolverhampton City Primary Care Trust.
According to the trust, nearly 10% of young people living in the city have had genital chlamydia. However, statistics showed that last year just 5% of people offered the test took the opportunity to take it.
The test eliminates the need for potentially embarrassing visits to the doctor, arriving in an unmarked envelope to be completed behind closed doors.
Also included is a free-post envelope so the test can be returned to the centre for analysis.
The results will be sent out shortly after, maintaining the discretion used throughout the testing process.
