A number of new drugs for patients with rheumatoid arthritis have been recommended by NICE.
It has given the go-ahead for ituximab, adalimumab, etanercept, infliximab and abatacept to be considered as possible treatments for the condition after treatment with a tumour necrosis factor inhibitor has failed.
In separate guidance, NICE has also recommend that tocilizumab can be used with methotrexate in the treatment of patients who have not responded to, or cannot take, rituximab, or where a TMF inhibitor has failed.
