Pelvic floor rehabilitation improves quality of life and sexual function
This is the conclusion of a study of 16 patients with urinary incontinence who underwent a complete pelvic floor rehabilitation program.
The program included biofeedback, functional electrical stimulation, pelvic floor muscles exercises and use of vaginal cones.
Patients completed a quality of life and sexual function questionnaire at base line and as part of their follow up.
Following the rehabilitation program 81% said their continence problem had resolved. The researcher identified that there was a statistically significant improvement in sexual function and quality of life five months after treatment.
