I suppose vision, a good role model using the NMC code of conduct.

I agree and really putting the Code into practice.
Warmth, firmness (when necessary), empathy, compassion and outstanding communication skills need to be shown to the staff as much as to the patients.

It all comes down to effective communication, no use having a vision or a plan if you cannot convey that to your colleagues.
