Leg ulcer bandage care methods 'equally effective'

Using either four-layer or short-stretch bandaging to treat venous leg ulcers in the community are both as effective as the other, according to nurse researchers in Canada.

They found both systems resulted in similar healing, health-related quality of life and pain outcomes when delivered by registered nurses using an evidence-informed protocol.

The study involved 424 patients, making it the largest ever reported trial on bandaging systems.
