Gastrostomy tube guide published

A good practice guide for nurses has been published on the changing of balloon gastrostomy tubes into the stomach for adults and children.

The National Nurses Nutrition Group (NNNG) guidance highlights that pH should be below 5.5 to confirm gastric position of the tube.

It states: “If position is a concern for any reason confirmation of placement should be undertaken by contrast studies in an x-ray department.”
