Mid Staffordshire Foundation Trust

Mid Staffs worker suspended over confidentiality breach

A hospital worker has been suspended from Mid Staffordshire Foundation Trust for allegedly breaching patient confidentiality, through the use of either photographic or video footage.

The trust has refused to comment on the precise details of the incident, but a report to the trust board said the staff member was reported by a colleague and subsequently suspended, pending an investigation.

The family of the patient has been told about the incident and the trust has said it will keep them informed.

This latest case of a worker being suspended comes after it emerged in September that a healthcare worker was accused of assaulting a patient by “rough handling” during treatment.

In both cases, fellow members of staff raised the alarm about the alleged poor care.

  • have any other members of staff, in other trusts, been suspended for similar offenses or are the staff at this trust being singled out. why do we need to know this, where is the confidentiality in this article?

  • Hmmm hard to know what to believe here.... were these members of staff being victimised I wonder? And what exactly was the "poor care" involved in the alleged breach of confidentiality. It's not for us to judge I guess.

I suspect incidents like this happen all the time across the Country but Anon above may be right it's possible this trust is being singled out now for criticism at every possible opportunity.
