NHS England to look for stories of compassionate nursing success
NHS England has launched a Story of the Month competition in association with Nursing Times to ensure that compassionate nursing care gets the recognition it deserves.
Nursing teams from all care settings are being invited to submit an entry telling us how their work supports the delivery of the “6Cs” – care, compassion, competence, communication, courage and commitment – the six areas of work within the national nursing strategy Compassion in Practice.
All entries will be considered by a panel and the winning one will be featured on Nursing Times online and on the newly launched 6Cs Live! communication hub.
The hub is intended to act as a web-based tool where nursing staff can sign up for regular updates and webinars with nursing leaders and also link up with colleagues across the country to share examples of compassionate care and good practice – as well as celebrate success.
Sam Sherrington, head of nursing and midwifery strategy from NHS England’s quality, improvement and care team, said: “I am delighted to be involved with Story of the Month. It has been an absolute privilege to meet, listen to and learn from nurses, midwives and care staff who are embedding the 6Cs into their clinical practice.
“Stories of the Month provides a wonderful mechanism for staff to tell us how they are improving patient experience through the values and behaviours of 6Cs, and to showcase and be proud of their work.”
