Preparing for your nursing interview

So you’ve got the offer of an interview from your potential employer. Well done! You should immediately confirm your attendance because you may be turned away from your interview if you arrive without confirming or if you do so too late. So if you haven’t done it yet, do it now!

Be polite when calling.

You could be talking to someone who will make a decision about your application. Note down their name and never rely on leaving a phone message or making a phone call. Always send an email or a letter as written confirmation, even if you’ve spoken to someone in person. Make sure emails and letters are error-free.

Keep a record of all your telephone conversations and correspondence.

If you have a disability, remind them when you accept your invitation. If you are dyslexic or dyspraxic you may be offered extra time to complete any tests that form part of the interview.

You will normally need to take original documents or photocopies. Read what is exactly required and follow these instructions – if the letter says to bring two copies of your originals then do so. Bear in mind what interviewer’s ask for varies from place to place.
