A poem inspired by alcohol and the problems it causes

It can make you happy
It can make you sad
It can make you silly
Or it can make you bad

It's bad for your health
And reduces your wealth
You can buy it yourself
From the off-licence shelf

It comes in a bottle
It comes in a can
In some countries
They have imposed a ban

But in this country
Under labour rule
Our kids are drinking it
Whilst they are in school

With 24hr drinking
And so many with knives
Their all out getting hammered
Resulting in loss of lives

In my role as a nurse
I've witnessed this curse
It's me they introduce
To those wanting to reduce
