The big question: how do you feel about today's Francis Report?

Today Robert Francis publishes his report into the care failings at Mid Staffordshire Trust. How do you feel about it coming out?

The Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust public inquiry report is due to be published today – almost three years to the day since the findings of Robert Francis QC’s independent inquiry into the trust were published on 24 February 2010.

Robert Francis recently chaired a public inquiry into how poor care at Mid Staffordshire Foundation Trust was allowed to happen in the period between January 2005 and March 2009, and why none of the organisations responsible for regulating or managing the trust spotted problems sooner.

    Relieved.

  • It could be an important turning point in the history of the NHS and in the history of nursing.

  • Whistleblowers!
    If they had been heard,
If their concerns were acted upon.
All of those deaths, (or at least very many). could have been avoided.
Not enough about protection of whistleblowers.
There should have been an Audit Trail to identify those it was reported to and what they did (or didn't) do about those concerns.
So many of modern societies disasters, Health, Banking, Institutional abuses need effective whistleblowers.
Whistleblowers need real protection, not just empty words.

I agree and would take it further to ask what the point is in documenting everything if it is disregarded?
