Given the instant resignation I wonder if he recieved just his wages to that point or did he get any form of 'golden goodbye' payments ....... hmmmm - methinks I'll use the Freedom of Information Act to find out what the NMC does in these circumstances.

If "nurses" such as Christine Beasley are supposed to be representative of our profession then no wonder the post has been downgraded - much as frontline troops in the first world war we appear to be ' lions led by donkeys'

The NMC website shows two Christine Beasleys as currently Registered - if one of these is our illustrious 'Leader' I'd love to know how she gets the time to do some 'hands on' real Nursing whilst obviously being soooo busy running an Office that spends such vast amounts of money. Its a bloody farce and just shows the gravy Trains are still running on time even if the real ones aint. Pah!!!

  • Comment on: Nurses told to buy their own milk at Barts

    Phil Dup's comment 22-Feb-2011 12:30 pm

I have calculated that during my 15 years as a Trained Nurse I have worked HUNDREDS of extra hours unpaid via missed meal breaks, getting away late etc - all due to chronic understaffing to save money. As a result of this whilst my trust therefore still owes me THOUSANDS of pounds in underpaid wages I will continue to indulge in my one "free" cup of tea per shift at the NHS "expense".
