Mental health guide prioritises local carers and family involvement

A guide emphasising the need for better local strategic involvement of carers and families in the care planning and treatment of people with mental health problems has been published by the Princess Royal Trust for Carers and the National Mental Health Development Unit.

The Triangle of Care - Carers Included: A Best Practice Guide in Acute Mental Health Care gives best practice examples and resources to help people working with carers to involve them more effectively in acute care services. This will greatly benefit staff, service users and carers themselves, the guide says.

  • I appear to have subscribed to the wrong magazine. It's a shame that there is very little included within the Nursing times LEARNING area for Mental Health Nurses/Students. I can see 3 above me here, 2 of which were in other areas of learning, so I'm under the impression that I've got two generic courses at my disposal and only one that relates specifically to Mental Health nursing. Quite the disapointment.
