Charlotte Church launches critical care appeal

Singing star Charlotte Church has launched a children’s hospital appeal in Cardiff to raise money for a critical care unit.

The mother-of-two is patron of the Noah’s Ark Appeal at the Children’s Hospital for Wales and she later met some of its patients.

Church was introduced to 22-month-old Hollie Evans from Bridgend who is suffering from acute myeloid leukaemia. The toddler recently met the former boxer and Strictly Come Dancing evictee Joe Calzaghe so was an old hand with celebrities.

She also met eight-month-old Georgia Thomas, from Abercynon, who is being treated for meningitis in the intensive care ward.

The Welsh-singer, 23, said: “It’s humbling to be at the hospital and see how brave the parents and children are.”

Church has two children of her own with her rugby player partner Gavin Henson - Ruby, two, and Dexter, 10 months.
