Hi Hannah,

In answer to your second question, i am awaiting an offer from Kings College London, had my interview last week! I have applied to do the mental health nursing accelerated diploma there. At the moment i am just in my final two weeks of my undergraduate psychology degree. Do you know where you would be living in london?

Hi Rachael,

Nice to hear from you! I hope you get offered a place at Kings - Good luck!

I’m doing adult nursing. I don't know where I am going to live yet. I have thought about Halls, but I'm not very keen to go back to living there! I am now looking for a private rent, but would ideally want to be with other student nurses. What about you? Which area do you think is best?

Also, do you - or anyone else reading this - know if there is a PM function on this message board? I had a look, but couldn't see one.

Hi j b,

Sorry I only just saw your reply, so I'm guessing that you had the interview today? If so, how did it go? If not, I can give you info about the interview I had.

What course are you applying for?

They ask basic questions such as why you want to do the course? any previous experience? why you think you would be suited on the course, nothing challenging dont worry!!

I'm in my second year at salford university studying diploma in mental health nursing. I'm enjoying it and have had some great experience on my placements.
It was frightening at first but really enjoyable!
Good luck all !! xxx

My advice is be well prepared for your interview. Think about why you want to train as a nurse, but avoid superficial answers such as 'its something I have always wanted to do'. Think about what the professional will give you, but also what you can give in return. Also, think about the study committment - its hard slog, but the rewards are great. What are your study skills like? do you have any areas that you find difficult e.g. structuring essays, but don't be put off by difficulties and come up with possible solutions to overcome them. Make sure you know your strengths, not just weaknesses, as everyone has qualities. I also suggest you give some thought to the debate about nursing becoming an all graduate profession in 2012. Take a list of prepared questions with you, don't rely on your memory as it usually goes blank under pressure. A list of thoughtful questions will also show that you have taken time to prepare. I have been a nurse for 29 years and teaching for 14 years - nursing is a fantastic profession, so I wish you all the best of luck with your interviews.

Hi all,

I have an interview at Kingston tommorow morning at 9am. I live in Luton, so the getting there alone is a challenge.

Im just relying on my lechwe/girl guide motto from 30 odd years ago,:
' Be prepared'! (I pray that its not obsolete theses days)!

Wish me luck, I think Im gonna need it!

I'll tell all about it tommorow nite when I get back.

Writing a new grad RN resume isn’t as easy as some might think especially when it needs to convey all the skills and achievements one has gained during the course of their study including their time in clinics while doing their rounds. A new graduate may not have the same experience as those who are already working in hospitals and clinics but this doesn’t mean that they won’t have the same chance of getting a good position in the medical industry.
