Thousands of steps forward in fighting breast cancer
Nurse Jetta Chita reflects on her biggest challenge, trekking the Great Wall of China for charity.
Wow! What a challenge. Thousands upon thousands of steps and an awesome experience. The wall was just as I had imagined it to be: breathtaking and just like a picture postcard.
There is such an enormous feeling of wellbeing and achievement coupled with pride knowing that that I managed this challenge and in the process helped Breast Cancer Campaign by raising funds for the charity’s all important research.
The feeling of comradeship was unbelievable. Knowing we were all there for the same charity, and all of us had been touched by experiences of people with breast cancer, one of the biggest killers in the UK, really motivated us to do something to make a difference.
It was not an easy challenge but it was very rewarding at the same time. We got an insight into the culture of the Chinese people and the local guides were very knowledgeable, which helped make the trip really special for us.
It is nice to know that we all made a difference for Breast Cancer Campaign to help them continue researching the cure for breast cancer and that many women will now benefit from our efforts.
So all of you reading this, you can do it too! You can have a once in a lifetime experience and make a difference to someone else’s life by helping raise funds for Breast Cancer Campaign.
