Nursing needs its leaders to respond to FrancisUK nurse to head European cancer society
A nurse fromEnglandhas been named as the new president of the European Oncology Nursing Society (EONS).
Sara Faithfull, Senior Lecturer atUniversityofSurrey, will work with nursing networks acrossEuropeto promote healthy communities through research and education.
‘We can learn much from our colleagues in Europe about how cancer care is provided not only for those receiving treatment but also in the provision of supportive care after treatment is over,’ Professor Faithfull said.
‘It should also be remembered that specialist nurses within theUKhave made a major contribution to developments in European cancer nursing,’ she added.
Around 30,000 nurses are members of the EONS.
