Unions back NT training campaign

The nursing profession’s three largest unions have given their backing to NT’s major new campaign Time Out For Training.

Unison, the RCN and Unite/CPHVA have all told NT that they support the campaign’s aim to improve access to post-registration training for nurses.

Over 100 people also signed the campaign’s online petition last week, calling on the prime minister to ringfence training funds.

Junior health minister Lord Darzi told parliament last week he was satisfied that the rules on how training funds are spent were robust enough, despite NT finding that 52% of nurses could not access adequate training.
