University Interview

I am first year student nurse just started in september and my interviews were all really different. It entirely depends on the university; my first one was a traditional set up, myself and two interviewers in a room with a list of questions to ask me based mainly around my personal statement. The other two I attended were group style where a group of about 10 candidates sat round in a circle for a discussion. One uni kept the discussion topics nursing focussed but the other was really abstract and none of the questions related to nursing. The best advice I can give you is to read lots of things in current nursing media and learn as much as you can about the role of a nurse to show you have insight and enthusiasm. Good luck!!!

I am in my final year of the diploma course (adult nursing) and all students I've met in various cohorts from different years and different branches of nursing seem to have had very different experiences during their interview - it really does seem to depend on the uni and the interviewer. General advice though is:
- as mentioned in other posts, a good knowledge of current affairs in nursing will help as they will expect you to be taking an interest
- Be prepared to talk about previous experience both healthcare related and also anything else that demonstrates you're a competent, capable, all round lovely person! Things like raising children, voluntary work, previous job/career etc....
- Talk about your Access course as it demonstrates your commitment to study
- Ask questions, it shows you're interested
- Dress smartly as if dressing for a job interview, it sounds obvious I know but some people I know didn't and they said they would have felt more confident had they dressed the part

Hi Everyone

i just wanted to say thank you for all your excellent interview tips. I had my interview on Thursday and been offered a place today, so excited!

To anyone else who is waiting for their interviews, good luck and just be your self, read the tips given to me and you wont go far wrong!

hi i have my nursing interview next tuesday and am very worried. I've heard lots of people say to read about current affairs but can anyone expand on this for me? e.g. where exactly i can find these? for example is the news on this site sufficient? and what sort of news should i be reading?
Im also desperately trying to learn maths for my numeracy test in a short space of time! does anyone have any tips i.e. what questions they've had or best websites to learn from?
my interview is at Anglia Ruskin so if anyone has had personal experience of an interview there i would love info on what it was like and what they asked etc! that would be fab!
