Hospital pioneers high tech ICU cameras
ICU nurses at a major London hospital have become the first in the UK to use high-tech video and imaging equipment to remotely monitor patients.
The new 16-bed ICU at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington – which opened last week – uses high-quality overhead cameras so that patients can be constantly monitored by nurses.
Information, records and images of the patient are also accessible on a computer at the bedside.
Senior charge nurse Kevin Ullah said the new £8m unit would make an ‘enormous difference’ to patient care.
