Maintain pressure on reforms to protect NHSHPA to look at nurse exposure to to chemicals, radiation and infections
Protecting nurses from exposure to chemicals, radiation and infections is to be the focus of a HPA symposium on September 16.
Held in partnership with Health Protection Scotland, the one-day gathering at Warwick University will include a debate with experts and a session on the use of safety and protection devices.
It will explore the role of national policy in safeguarding the health of patients by protecting healthcare workers, including managing emergency situations without putting the health of healthcare workers at risk.
Said the HPA’s Dr Fortune Ncube: ‘Frontline healthcare workers are crucial to the UK’s ability to provide a robust health service, and this programme covers a broad range of important issues relating to the health of healthcare workers.’
The symposium will focus on trainees in health protection, public health and occupational health; infection control nurses and occupational health doctors and nurses; and occupational health service managers, virologists and microbiologists.
